Other Activities of the Highland Lakes Honor Guard
The Highland Lakes Honor Guard is actively engaged in other community activities by participating in a variety of patriotic programs, throughout Burnet and Llano County. Note, however, that the Highland Lakes Honor Guard is not a color guard. Local need for a color guard can be obtained through local veterans organizations or the Boys Scouts i.e. posting of colors, leading parades, etc.
June 25, 2021 Celebrated the 100th Birthday of Capt. Elizabeth L. Montgomery at the Coldwater Creek RV Park in Smithwick, TX. Service included presentation of the US and Texas Flags and presentation of a Quilt of Valor by the Llano, TX Chapter of Quilts of Valor.
Nov. 9, 2020 Displayed all Service Flags, posted colors for the Wounded Warriors Memorial Service at the Escondido Golf Course in Horseshoe Bay, TX.
Nov. 11, 2019 Displayed all Service Flags, posted colors, sounded a rifle volley and played Taps at the dedication of the Veterans Memorial in Bertram, Texas.

May 4, 2019 Wheelers for the Wounded: The Highland Lakes Honor Guard will again be greeting special wounded warriors from Ft. Hood and San Antonio at Adventureland Park with the posting and flying of the American and Texas colors and each of the military service flags. Welcome to our heroes!

March 18, 2017 the Honor Guard posted colors with an introductory narration and sounded TAPS at a community function honoring deceased Texas Rangers interned at Tow Cemetery, Tow, Texas.
November 11, 2016 Honor Guard posted colors with narration at R.J. Richey Elementary School in Burnet, Texas in celebration of Veterans Day.
November 7, 2016 Honor Guard posted all service branch flags and POW/MIA flag and posted colors with narration and led in the pledge of allegiance to the National and State flags at the Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation annual Pro-Am Tournament held at he Escondido Golf Club in Horseshoe Bay, Texas. The mission of the Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation is to raise awareness, to honor, and to empower our Wounded United States Military Warriors who live in Texas and surrounding states, enabling them to assimilate back to daily life upon their return from combat. They seek to provide Wounded Veterans injured from combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan with funding to defray the basic costs of living incurred, as a result of the short and long-term care of those injuries.

May 24: Honoring the Veterans at Pardners – Posted the Colors and displayed all Service Branch flags along with MIA/KIA flag, and demonstrated the flag folding ceremony followed by the sounding of TAPS.
May 24: Impromptu prayer, recognition of veterans present and Memorial Day comments at Chapel, of the Hills church.
May 24: Carry the Load, Reveille Peak Ranch, Burnet. Post colors, display Service flags and perform Flag Folding ceremony.

May 16: Marine Corps Reunion celebration. Post Colors and perform flag folding ceremony at Garst Ranch, Burnet.
May 9: Hearts & Heroes Fundraiser for Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation. Posted colors, flew Service Branch flags and performed flag folding ceremony at Garst Ranch, Burnet.
May 7: Burnet Women’s Prison. Sounded TAPS for correctional officers that passes away during the last year.
May 2: Wheelers for the Wounded, Adventureland Park. Greeted buses of wounded warriors and their families. Posted Colors and displayed Servicxe Branch flags.
March 7: Opening season for Little League in Burnet. Posted colors and paraded Service Branch flags.
February 20: Kingsland Chamber of Commerce Awards dinner. Posted Colors. Charlie was awarded Person of the Year.
